April 2021 Bud Meyer Black Powder Silhouette Shoot
It was a beautiful day, started out cool, then warmed up, a bit overcast, relatively low humidity, a great day for the shoot. 16 shooters turned out to enjoy the weather and the match for the first one of the year.
Rob Freeman won the match with an 18 beating out Jim Boring on the Bears and was the high bullet shooter for the day. Bob Bloyer was the high Round Ball shooter, using a flintlock and also came in 3rd.
Scores were uniformly low compared to other years, I guess we are all out of practice. Mike Moss complained that his low score was due to using Corinne’s ammo (who couldn’t be there). However, since he loads her ammo we wonder if he’s stacking the deck so she can’t beat him.
I managed to turn two groundhogs sideways. Mike Moss took out one of them. I did manage to hit the second one on my second shot. For once we had no sideways buffalo or bears.
We had people bring out some new (old) guns that they had not shot in a quite a will which also accounted for some of the low scores. More sight work is need!
Thanks to all who helped with the targets and to Mike for getting the prizes.
Mark your calendars for the next shoot on May 30th.
